Monday Grocery Trip

I really wish I lived closer to a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Neither are really on my path to schools either. So when I run out and Farmers Market Day isn't until Thursday...Fresh and Easy will have to do. These are some random items that help me out:
Scored these fun weenies for the kids lunches!
Not the perfect paleo bacon BUT better than MOST
Always need organic bananas on hand for Charlie,
my kids only like the easy peel tangerines,
and plantains make for yummy plantain patties for breakfast!
I'll wash these up good and let the kiddos gobble them up for snack!
I spend very little time and money on the middle aisles at stores, but we like the Vermont Maple Syrup here and also the price for their bourbon vanilla. This trip was about $60 after using my two $6 off $30 coupons. This plus a Farmer's Market trip make up most of our food list. We have venison/beef/salmon/rabbit in our freezer and really not much need for anything else!

Johnson's @ the Color Run 2012!

the Color Run 2012
We have had SO much planned these past months that we almost forgot about the Color Run. It was the day after our big Blue and Gold banquet, a little rough to get up and out so early.... but SO worth it!! We met up with our smiling pals Shari and Ian, http://rsiccookfamily.blogspot.com/, who thank god! pointed us towards coffee and the start line!! Our team name "Gryffindor" reflects our interests in all things Harry Potter and our love of books! The race was very popular and maxed out on runners! They started heats of 1,000 runners at a time, and we were in the 5th heat. The boys were so excited, the energy at the start line was electric! Runners were dressed in all sorts of costumes, white wigs, and petticoats!
After the Green station
At each kilometer you ran through a 'color station' and were bombed with powdered color! Yellow, Green, Purple, and Pink!
Part of your registration gear included a color packet, only to be opened at the end of the race at the color celebration! Basically, that was a giant cloud of color dust!! We opted to have our own little mini color party and tossed up our color together as as team! It was such a neat experience, glad I had my boys there with me, and great friends to share it with. Already looking forward to next year and planning our costumes!

Willy WOnkA and the gum ball machines...

Mrs. Blaser's 3rd grade class
Gum Ball Mania Machine
*high five* to Jacob's teacher for making reading F-U-N! 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is already a fun story to begin with, but she added a performance and science element to it as well! LOVE HER!! The kids imagined, designed, and then built their own fully functioning gum ball machines! Some Dads even stopped by to help (DAVE of course!), and lots of miscellaneous items were collected for construction. The class then prepared to put on a show and present these machines, along with a few fun Oompa Loompa songs! Jacob was cast as Charlie Bucket, and entered stage left, complete with 'his' version of a british accent!! His book report this month happened to coincide with this project and he chose to read 'BOY' the autobiography of Roald Dahl. I am very grateful that reading comes easy to him but more that he seems to really ENJOY it!
 Happy Nevada Reading Week!
