Now let's try this blogging thing again...

I would first like to thank Facebook for making it SO EASY to neglect my blog! A status update here and there and voila' everyone knows what I have been up to. The list of things to try and do better in the new year is getting longer and longer each time I think about it....so I am updating the blog now, sharing photos today, and I might have some more to share again soon.

December is always a busy month for us, but only by choice! Here we are at Opportunity Village visiting with Santa, riding the train and the carousel. I missed going with Jacob this year, but I also am glad I had a morning with the 'little people'. note: the hat should have come off while in the presence of Santa, sorry!

We also said good-bye to Big Bear. 11 years of memories, snow play, hiking, warm fires, and big turkey dinners! My in-laws are looking forward to the new freedoms of not having to care for a large and mostly empty house, or traveling to Cali every few months. We will have to cope with more trips to Mt. Charleston and maybe even a trip to their 'farm' in Wyoming this summer. Big Bear was always a very special place for us to vacation and unwind, but I guess anywhere where my Father-in-law offers to wash the dishes while serving up margaritas can make a good substitute. Here we all are around that famous fireplace.

We also said good-bye to a very dear friend and member of our family last week. Our dog of 11 1/2 years, Daisy, was laid to rest.  We were painting the living room of our new college pad, and a stray Daisy saw the front door open and walked right in and never left. She was a college party, beer drinking dog in those days....and then came Jacob and she settled into her role of protector and pillow. She started to slow down a bit, slept more, wanted outside walks less, and with Charlies arrival her spirit picked up again with the endless amounts of food falling from his spot! She will be missed and remembered, especially while now having to clean up after Charlie ourselves. Good-bye Daisy-dog.
